I love the way that this newborn session came to be. Baby Averie’s cute moms discovered our newborn photography studio on a walk in their hometown of Maplewood, NJ. Mom Paige loves light, bright images, so she was thrilled to see my work. She looked through my studio newborn portfolio during her pre-session planning consultation and felt like my work fit her preference perfectly.
Averie was about 4 weeks old at the time of her session, which is a little older than typical newborn sessions. We usually work with newborns around 1-2 weeks after birth, but I love older newborns because they make great expressions and eye contact. Averie’s stunning portraits are the perfect example of this.
Sweet Averie is wearing a simple white bow from our studio, and both moms are wearing gorgeous flowy dresses from the studio wardrobe. During their wardrobe planning appointment, we were all able to look through the wardrobe and pick the dresses that felt right to them. I made sure to have everyone’s outfits steamed and ready on the morning of their session.
The baby’s nursery is small, so rather than wall art they wanted to create an album with their favorite images. Before their viewing and design appointment, I pre-designed an album so that the clients could get an idea of their options and simply make the swaps that they wanted to make. I’m very good at predicting session favorites, and designing the flow of the album is part of my creative process that I absolutely love. Sometimes I will even do additional edits for images that are going in an album. For example, the beautiful photo of Paige (curly brown hair) and newborn Averie on the bed looking at the camera is breathtaking and needed to be a full spread. To not lose any of the images in a 10x10 album, I needed to extend the background. The couple loved that I would include this extra edit in order to make their final product perfect.
At the design and ordering appointment, the moms chose their favorite images and selected the 10x10 pink linen album with custom debossing on the front.
I truly enjoyed documenting this couple’s love for their little girl and designing an heirloom album that will last their family a lifetime.
