Five Things You Won't Regret About Newborn Photos

As a photographer, I have had the privilege of capturing all kinds of tender and precious memories for my clients. I feel so honored that families continue to trust me with their special moments. One of my absolute favorite photos to take is at newborn sessions.

I have always loved kids and babies, and working with families is one of the major highlights of my job. However, there is something so unique about a little infant, so fresh and new to the world. After having kids of my own, holding tiny newborns just makes my heart melt.

Welcoming a new member to your family unit is such a happy celebration. In my mind, there’s no better way to mark the occasion than taking newborn photos. It’s an investment that will always be worth it. Here are a few aspects of newborn photos that you won’t regret:

Being able to capture every little detail.

How can every inch of a new baby be so sweet and perfect? The sad reality is that no matter how hard you try to memorize every inch of your new baby, there will always be something that slips your mind. I love getting as many detail shots as I can of each newborn so you don’t ever forget their tiny features.

Creating easy-to-share gifts.

If you haven’t gifted photos of your baby to their grandparents, let me fill you in on a little secret: they’re the best kind of present to give. Grandbaby photos are a winner every time, especially sweet newborn pictures. They are also perfect for albums and so easy to frame throughout your home.

Capturing brand new family relationships

Your family dynamic changes every time a new baby is added to your crew. Newborn photos are a perfect way to capture the new relationships between each family member without any extra work. I love getting photos of older brothers and sisters with their new baby sibling, as well as parents of course.

Documenting this stage for your future self.

Newborn photos take place at arguably the most special stage of early parenthood, which can be kind of difficult to remember down the road. Someday when your kids are grown, you (and they) will love looking back at the nearly-forgotten memories of the new baby phase.

Freezing time for just a brief minute.

Having a newborn is one of those strange phases in life that feels so slow while you’re experiencing it but flies by in a flash as you look back. This session pauses time just for a little bit as we document all the emotion that comes during this unique time of life.

The value of newborn photos just really can’t be understated. They are a celebration of your new family and a testament to the simple joys of bringing home a new baby. If you’ve had a newborn, you know that there is a certain magic that comes with that stage, and newborn pictures are the best way to preserve it.
