Welcoming Charlotte Home with a Newborn Photography Session in Chatham, NJ

These New Jersey parents recently moved from the Upper East Side of Manhattan to a gorgeous new home in Chatham, NJ. I photographed big sister, Shea, at their previous apartment for her newborn session, and then during three more sessions as she grew up in the city. I could not wait to visit the family’s new Chatham home and meet baby Charlotte, who they lovingly call Charlie.

This second-time mom remembered how busy it is when you bring home a newborn, so she scheduled in-home hair and makeup with my preferred hair and makeup artist. I also brought dresses in from my studio wardrobe so she didn’t need to worry about outfits for her and Shea. This made getting ready quick and simple; it also added an extra level of polish and cohesion to the photos. Shea wore a light and airy blush pink tulle dress, perfect for a cute little girl to twirl in. For mom, I picked a timeless lace dress with beautiful details on the sleeve that matched the vibe of little Shea’s dress perfectly.

On the day of our session, it rained! It was so dark outside. Luckily, you would never know it. I bring studio light to each session regardless of the weather, but in this session, I was so glad that I did. Everyone was looking forward to the session. Hair and makeup had been booked. It would have been so inconvenient if we had needed to reschedule due to the weather.

Fortunately, the photos turned out wonderfully. Sweet baby Charlie was absolutely darling. Mom made sure to book a first-year baby plan for Charlie, and we just finished up her 6-month session in the NJ studio. I can’t wait to celebrate her first birthday this fall with an autumn outdoor session. Let’s hope there is no rain this time around!
