Baby Kaden’s Beauty Nursery in Manhattan

For Kaden’s in-home newborn session, we set up in the family’s modern apartment near Bryant Park, NYC. The location was absolutely gorgeous, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a beautifully decorated nursery. This client was actually a referral from another client who was thrilled with their portraits. Kaden’s mom admired the beautiful quality of my framed fine art prints when she saw them in another client’s home. It means so much to me when my work catches the attention of a new client. In this case, Kaden’s mom knew right away that she wanted a framed piece for her own home.

For NYC clients who do not wish to travel to the Maplewood, NJ studio, we do all pre-session planning over Zoom or Facetime. The client let me know that she wanted sweet, minimalist family and baby portraits that included the nursery she designed for her baby boy. It is so much fun for me to document families in their own homes, especially when parents have put so much time and energy into creating a beautiful and comforting space for their little ones.

Kaden wasn’t the only little one that I photographed in this session. The family let me know that they would like their first baby, a Pomeranian named Kai, to be included in the family portraits. I am always happy to photograph dogs and older children with their new little siblings. I understand how important it is to have every family member present, including the furry ones. A benefit of working in the family’s Flatiron neighborhood home is that it was easy to bring Kai into the baby’s room for a few photos and let him go so that he was comfortable and never felt stressed.

After editing, the family and I returned to Zoom/FaceTime for a post-session viewing and design appointment. During this appointment, we went through all of the edited portraits so that mom and dad could select the favorites that they would like sent to them or printed. We also went through the living room and selected the perfect wall and appropriate size for the client’s framed family portrait. The clients moved shortly after this session, so I am glad that we were able to document these beautiful photos of baby’s first home. Even if you know that you are not in your forever home, framed portraits are a possibility for you. In these instances, we will select a smaller size that will integrate beautifully into a wall gallery down the road.
