Happy birthday to Asher! This cute one-year-old is so loved. His mom brought him in to celebrate his first year with gorgeous, timeless portraits. She wanted to get a cake for sweet birthday photos, but also classic images that would look beautiful on the walls of their home to remind them of this precious time.

They are a New Jersey family, so the studio was the perfect place to create the bright and joyous pieces mom was looking for. We looked through the studio wardrobe and picked out some shorties as well as a classic organic romper. The studio wardrobe is available to all clients, but you are also welcome to bring your own outfits and accessories! Asher’s mom brought the cutest birthday hat with her.

Mom asked for my recommendation on a cake for the birthday portraits and I knew exactly who she should contact. I work with an excellent baker in West Orange, NJ called Bakes by Izzy. She can do any style, but I particularly love “naked” cakes for any little one celebrating their first birthday. They are very simple which keeps the focus on the baby’s expressions and joy. One of my favorite birthday portraits that I’ve created featured one of her cakes and the vintage highchair that we keep in the studio.

This was a celebration session, which is a petite studio session that is perfect for celebrating milestones such as a birthday, a few gorgeous maternity photos, or even updated sibling portraits. Clients have the option to purchase heirloom quality artwork and add digital files at a discounted price or purchase just digital images for personal use and printing. We still offer all the same services as our classic sessions, including wardrobe, planning appointments, and an in-person viewing and design appointment. The photos featured here are Mama's selections that she loved the most. I presented to mom a variety of beautiful, lightly edited images and we worked together to narrow down her absolute favorites for final edits.
