Say hello to one of my favorite families; I’ve had the privilege of artfully documenting their expansion to a family of three, and now again photographing them as they welcomed a newborn baby girl. I last photographed their family when I created NYC newborn photography portraits on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Since then, Mom and Dad have moved to Northern New Jersey, as did my newborn photography studio. Mom and dad adored my clean and classic style for the newborn photography session that we did for Orla, which are now beautifully preserved on the walls of their home. They wanted some updated family portraits with a similar vibe and I could not be more excited to have them all in the studio again and meet baby Maeve.

This session took place in Maplewood, New Jersey at my newborn photography studio. This is the perfect place for clean, classic newborn photography and family portraits. While I offer in home newborn sessions, clients adore visiting the location because there is no need to tidy up the home or even pick out outfits. Families arrive and we take care of the rest, allowing our clients to relax and truly enjoy an easy and beautiful portrait experience.

For toddlers newly promoted to big sister, we love to pre-select a few dresses from the studio wardrobe that will photograph beautifully and then allow her to pick her favorite. Orla loved this process and it helped get her excited to be photographed. I always make a point to start with some portraits of older siblings during newborn photography sessions so they are comfortable with being in front of the camera when we photograph sibling and newborn portraits and family photos. Our newborn photography sessions are about the family, and each member, so everyone is considered, with special love and attention given to toddlers.

Mom and I briefly discussed wardrobe prior to the newborn session and we easily selected something she felt comfortable and beautiful in. While many clients love the convenience of borrowing wardrobe from our newborn photography studio, some clients already have something in mind and we are always happy to style your family to meet your vision. I love to help moms pick something lovely from their own closest, shop for something new and special, or work with personal stylists and interior decorators to select the perfect outfits for the portraits clients want to hang on their walls.

This New Jersey family is thrilled with their resulting newborn photos and updated family portraits. The final gallery is a perfect combination of baby-led, natural newborn photography, and lifestyle family portraits. The simplicity of our photography style allows the focus to be on baby’s sweet details and the family’s loving relationships.
