Cooper In Home Newborn | NJ Family Photographer

I was so excited to return to this beautiful Bergen County home for newborn pictures with baby Cooper, as I had come to their home not too long ago for a newborn shoot with Cooper’s big sister, Chase. This baby brother is absolutely adored. We had recently finished a studio maternity family session (which will be shared soon) when I heard the news of his arrival.

For clients with large, beautifully decorated homes I highly recommend an in-home session. It is a great choice for those who would like an heirloom album to look back on and tell their story. We can move throughout the home, work with a wide variety of light, and easily do wardrobe changes as we did in sister Chase’s newborn session.

With toddlers, in-home sessions are nice in that they feel comfortable, but they can also feel too comfortable and get distracted easily. I made sure to spend a lot of energy focusing on the dynamic change in the family and home now that baby Cooper had arrived, but also create images that preserve the sweetness of Chase at this age. I wanted to document her special relationships with each parent, as well as the diverse feelings she has as she explores what it means to be a big sister. Becoming a family of four is an exciting and complex time for a little one, and I love to document these changes and feelings for everyone to look back on.

I used a combination of natural and studio light throughout the session. The images on the white material are fully natural light thanks to the huge windows adorning their living room. While I brought mom several dresses to choose from, she decided to wear her own. I did provide big sister’s dress, which took a load off of mom’s to-do list and was much appreciated.

One month after this newborn session with one-week-old Cooper, mama decided to visit our studio to create some additional images of her with the baby, and the whole family. I cannot wait to share those pieces with you as well.
