Sam’s First Birthday | Studio Photography Session
I can’t believe that little Sam is already one year old. Time goes by so quickly during that first year! You probably remember this cute girl and her fun-loving parents from their previous sessions with me. I have taken Sam’s newborn, six-month, and fall family portraits over the past year. I have really enjoyed seeing how much she has changed this year and documenting her parents’ first year as a mom and dad. This session was the last of her three first-year sessions. Because we recently had a gorgeous outdoor full family session, we decided that some classic studio portraits in our Maplewood, NJ studio were just right for Sam’s first birthday.
Mom had a beautiful vision of girly portraits that celebrated her rainbow baby turning one. This mom always has a lot of cute outfit ideas. I love being able to offer the studio wardrobe to my clients. It is really nice for clients to not have to worry about putting outfits together, or to have to run out and buy an outfit that the baby will only wear once. However, if you have pieces you love and want your little one to wear in their portraits, I am more than happy to use them! Sam’s mom had her wear a gorgeous dress from Tutu de Monde that fit the style of our session perfectly.
This was a celebration session, which is a short and sweet session that is all about baby. Mom even brought a cake for Sam to enjoy on camera. I love the way that birthday portraits give a glimpse of the subject’s personality. Even at one year old, these images show so much personality in little Sam. Using simple props such as cakes, toys, and chairs can make these portraits even more fun. When this family looks back on Sam’s birthday portraits, I want them to see her sweet demeanor and remember her at this stage. She is such a happy little one, and I’m sure this family is going to have so much fun with her during year number two.
