Baby Sam’s Fall Family Photos

I absolutely love the way that photography has allowed me to build long-standing relationships with my clients and document their lives as they change and grow. This particular client came to me back when she was pregnant with her daughter, Sam, and ended up booking several more sessions since then. We documented her pregnancy with a gorgeous maternity session in our Maplewood studio. Once baby Sam had arrived, we met up again at their beautiful home for a lifestyle newborn session; you can see some of my favorites from their in home newborn session here. which you can see. I especially loved taking Sam’s six-month baby portraits. This family has such a beautiful, artistic style, and I have loved creating special pieces for them to cherish.

Next for this sweet family were family portraits. Fall is such a perfect time for outdoor family portraits. The weather is usually ideal, and the fall colors make for a stunning background. We headed to my new favorite park in Essex County, New Jersey, on a cool, clear evening. Mom, Mallorie, was so excited to style her family for this session. She picked out several outfit options for everyone. We narrowed it down to their first pick for the majority of the portraits and were able to do a quick outfit change for Sam toward the end of the session.

I meet with all of my clients before a session so that I can gain an understanding of what they are wanting out of their session. Mallorie had a clear vision of what she wanted from this family session, and I simply chose a time and location that I knew would bring her vision to life. The more I work with my clients, the better I come to understand their styles, likes, and dislikes. It was so much fun to photograph Sam and her parents again. She is such a happy baby! I could honestly photograph her all day. We spent the session exploring the park and playing in the fallen leaves. I cannot wait to work with this sweet family again in the near future!
