Lucy Jean Baby Portraits in My New Jersey Portrait Studio
You may remember baby Lucy Jean from her beautiful newborn session in the family’s sophisticated Montclair, NJ, home. These parents have a gorgeous sense of style, and it was such a treat to work in their home. Lucy was quickly approaching six months—my favorite baby age to photograph—so I reached out to mom with scheduling options, and she opted for a studio session this time. Sessions in our Essex County studio allow for much more flexibility in scheduling. While I do enjoy home sessions, it is nice to have the clients come to me from time to time.
Life was especially busy for this young family, and we were not able to connect for a pre-session planning meeting. Mom did let me know, however, that she had Lucy’s wardrobe handled. I loved the outfit that she selected. It was a sweet and classic navy sweater that made their baby girl’s eyes pop. There are few things in life that are as cute as little ruffles on a baby outfit.
Because we were unable to connect before the session, I was unaware that little Lucy did not sit up on her own yet. Had I known, I would have suggested that we wait a few weeks until she was a little more confident in this skill. This did not stop us from creating beautiful six-month portraits, regardless. I have extensive experience with posing babies of all ages. I was happy to use my expertise in posing, lighting, and creating natural moments in-studio during this session.
The clients were so happy with the way baby Lucy’s portraits turned out. I used my expert hand-editing skills in order to even out baby’s skin tone a little. It is very common for babies with fair skin to have a bit of redness. I hand edit my images to ensure that the focus is on the client's beautiful expressions. Lucy’s beautiful skin, eyes, and sweet little smiles were the stars of this Montclair family’s portraits. I am excited to continue working with the family and see the newest portraits displayed in their stunning Essex County home.
