Teddy’s Tribeca Newborn Session | New York City Newborn Photographer

Even amid a move, you can document precious family memories. Liz and Tyler recently moved into a beautiful Tribeca, NYC apartment. The fact that their furniture was just starting to come in worked to our advantage as we were able to move about the space to create a variety of in-home newborn portraits for their sweet new arrival, Teddy. I love to work in old, historical Manhattan buildings like this one because they have large windows that offer so much natural light. I brought a studio light just in case, but we were able to photograph Teddy’s entire session using natural light. Liz and Tyler love black and white images, and the light in their new home provided such beautiful contrast, shadow, and depth that made for gorgeous black and white edits.

Luckily, the nursery was finished and ready to photograph. Mom and I went to her wardrobe to pick out a soft, classic white dress, and I had my preferred hair and makeup artist visit the home about 1.5 hours before my arrival to prepare her. I prefer the soft and natural look for in-home newborn sessions for moms. Because Liz is a wedding planner, she is very familiar with this hair and makeup style and was thrilled with the results that my artist provided.

Liz reviewed my product guide during our pre-session consultation and decided that she wanted two matted photo albums. She will use one for a family keepsake and one as a gift to the grandparents. We selected a timeless font for the debossing on the front of the albums. I also brought album swatches so that she would be able to see the light blue linen that she selected in person. There is a medium blue and a light blue that look similar on-screen, but different in person. I wanted to make sure that she was getting exactly what she wanted for her album.

Stay tuned - I just saw baby Teddy for his adorable 6-month portraits in their Manhattan home. We are planning a three-frame grouping from this session to adorn the walls of his new nursery, and a midsize piece for mom and dad’s room.
