Mallorie’s Studio Maternity Session | New Jersey Maternity Photographer

Meet Mallorie and David. Mallorie reached out to me because she was looking to book a simple and elegant studio maternity session in Northern New Jersey to artfully document pregnancy. She and David are only planning to have one child so they wanted to ensure they preserved the beauty of her pregnancy in a timeless way with images they could both love.

Before a maternity session I always spend time getting to know the couple so I can understand exactly what kind of images they wanted me to create during our session. For this couple, their personal tastes differed slightly – she was hoping for artistic portraits that highlighted the emotion of the moment and her beautiful baby bump, while he didn’t want too look too serious or have forced looking posing. more traditional photos to capture her baby bump, and he didn’t want to look too serious. We decided together that a studio session would be the perfect way to give them both the images they wanted. I love working with my clients in the Maplewood, NJ portrait studio because our white room is a perfect canvas to produce clean, classic, and artistic images.

When I spoke with Mallorie about wardrobe, she mentioned wanting a slim-fitting, black turtleneck gown. I had been eyeing a Sew Trendy gown that fit her description perfectly, and I was happy to add it to my studio wardrobe in her size so that she and future clients could enjoy this comfort and beauty of this classic dress during their maternity portraits. I love to keep my client wardrobe stocked and full of options for my clients to make their experience incredible and their final portraits breath taking. I know that deciding on clothing for a session can be overwhelming so I love to keep my client wardrobe well stocked to add to the beautiful, stress-free experience my studio is known for.

Mallorie scheduled the shoot for a time when her bump would be beautifully round and her hair color would be fresh and vibrant. Her gorgeous hair looked breathtaking in our white studio space and shines in the resulting portraits. Mallorie mentioned that she was a bit shy in front of the camera, so I made sure to keep the poses simple and provided lots of direction to keep her at ease. I also made lots of fun jokes and kept the atmosphere light. It’s natural to be a bit nervous in front of a camera, but any nervousness fades in the studio once we get going.

I am always thrilled when I hear back from happy clients after a session. Mallorie left a very sweet Google review that really sums up why I love being a photographer.

“Nicole was such an absolute pleasure to work with on our maternity photos. We loved her portfolio and thought she'd be the perfect fit to capture the look and style we were hoping to get to remember this time of our pregnancy -- and she completely nailed it! Nicole's attention to detail really helped make the whole process so smooth and seamless. We are so, so happy and can't wait to have Nicole capture more special moments with our new family!”

The family is part of my popular portrait membership program where families can work with me to document their growing family over 3+ sessions in 15 months. I absolutely can’t wait to see them again soon for their in home newborn session.
